ETC working methods are characterised by innovation, process-based participatory approaches, multi-disciplinary methodologies, multi-stakeholder approaches and integrated system analysis. Capacity building, negotiation with beneficiaries and an active recognition of the fact that women and men are to be considered equal partners are important elements in this development process. The sustainability of programmes and their impact on the environment receive special attention. ETC has built up a reputation for developing and pioneering new concepts and approaches.

ETC has affiliations and working relations with governmental and non-governmental organisations, international and local consultancy firms, universities and other institutions. These networks represent a wealth of additional experiences and expertise that can be mobilised for study and research activities, product development and the acquisition of new projects.
