ETC Energy programmes

ETC Energy houses the following programmes:

  • EASE - 'Enabling Access to Sustainable Energy', is our international partnership that works to serve the unmet demands of the poor. The main focus of ETC Energy's Access team (EASE) is scaling-up energy access of the poor through sustainable local business models. Our vision is that, in a given rural district, people who need energy services must be able to get these on commercial terms from a local supplier, whose long-term interest is to serve them in a sustainable local energy market. In this vision, development cooperation interventions should try to help local energy markets overcome obstacles and then leave the markets to themselves. They should not ignore the reality of local energy markets, let alone try to by-pass them by taking up an active role in the functioning of the market.
  • ENERGIA - The International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy.
  • TTP - Technical Training Programme, providing assistance to education and technical training programmes in a wide range of developing countries.
  • NCAP - Netherlands Climate Change Assistance Programme which has a special focus on supporting climate adaptation options and strategies of the poor in developing countries.
