Africa Biogas Partnership Programme

Gender mainstreaming the Africa Biogas Partnership Programme (ABPP)

To provide gender mainstreaming support to the ABPP, a six-country initiative supporting the construction of 70,500 biodigesters over a period of 5 years has been set up. The main focus of the activities is on developing capacity with the national biogas programmes and on providing technical support and input to programme activities and documentation.

Specific services that have been performed:

  • Developing the Gender Mainstreaming Guide for the ABPP
  • Practical training workshop on gender mainstreaming in ABPP on 18-19 May 2010.
  • Detailed inputs on Gender Action Plans developed by the national programmes at the training workshop.
  • E-group on biogas and gender as a channel for exchange and sharing information.
  • Online coaching / consultation with the gender focal point of each national programme.
  • Gender mainstreaming inputs on ABPP documentation, including ToR for conducting baseline studies, baseline study reports and the monitoring framework
  • Three in-country gender review and planning workshops
