Capacity Development and Strengthening for Energy Policy formulation and implementation of Sustainable Energy Projects in Indonesia (CASINDO)

The project is one of the components of the Renewable Energy Programme that is being implemented in Indonesia by the Netherlands Embassy during the period 2009 – 2011. NL Agency is the implementing agency for this programme. The partners from Indonesia are the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the 11 medium technical schools (SMK) in the target provinces; Institute Technology Bandung and the Technical Education Development Centre from Bandung. The Dutch partners comprise Energy research Centre of the Netherlands, Technical University Eindhoven and ETC.

The project aims to develop technical, analytical and institutional capacity in the provinces North Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara and Papua and at national government departments and agencies for conducting regional and local energy policy analysis and developing and implementing sustainable energy projects.

Introduction sustainable energy knowledge at medium technical school education:

  • The project aims to develop training modules on renewable energy technologies that can be used at technical schools in the target provinces.
  • It involves the development of the training modules, training the teachers of the vocational schools (SMK) and actually introducing the modules at a SMK in each target province.
  • The Ministry of Education at the national level and the regional office of education will be involved to ensure that this approach can be replicated and rolled out to other SMKs in the target provinces
