Leader+
LEADER+, the breeding ground for new rural policy
LEADER+ is one of four initiatives financed by EU structural funds and is designed to help rural actors consider the long-term potential of their local region.
LEADER stands for Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l'Economie Rurale. It is an experimental programme that aims to give socio-economic impulses at local area level, through funding of local and regional initiatives. These initiatives may be developed by individuals, local associations, private companies or regional and local government bodies.
The first Leader+ period took place from 2001 until the end of 2007. The Leader+ is now part of the new Rural Development Programme period, this period runs from 2007 - 2013. You may find information on Leader in the new period on www.netwerkplatteland.nl
