Themes
ETC has been and continues to work on range of thematic fields. Work in each thematic field consists of one or more (long-term) programmes and/or short-term projects and consultancies.
According to ETC, these current domains will also be relevant for the forthcoming years.
On the long run, a change of themes and activities will evolve from developments regarding our specific role in international cooperation and the financial resources that are made available for our type of work by donors and clients. Hence, the integration of these new developments and innovation of solutions will be leading the continuous improvement of the effectiveness of ETCs products and services.
On October16 2008 the Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation presented a policy note (‘Een zaak van iedereen. Investeren in ontwikkeling in een veranderende wereld’) to the Parliament. According to the new policy the Ministry will put more emphasis on four themes:
- Safety and Development
- Economic growth and distribution
- Rights and Opportunities for women (with a special focus in sexual and reproductive health and rights)
- Climate, Sustainability and Energy.
Almost all themes of ETC have a clear link with the priority areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIS). This will create new opportunities.
